In August 2010, we welcomed our senior pastor, Rev. David Aukerman. Pastor David holds D.Min. and M.Div. degrees from the Anderson University School of Theology. He also has an M.A. in mathematics from Miami University (Ohio), which allowed him to teach college mathematics before becoming a pastor. Before moving to Michigan, he and his wife, Tara, served as lay leaders an inner-city church in Indianapolis for several years.

Pastor David enjoys singing, running, watching Star Trek, playing chess, solving puzzles, and cheering for the Cleveland Guardians and the Great Lakes Loons. He is involved in several organizations in the Midland area, including the Midland Chorale, the Camerata Singers, the Call to the Creek Work Camp, and the Midland Area Interfaith Friends.

Pastor David’s doctoral dissertation focused on spiritual formation and contemplative spirituality, specifically on the relationship between preaching and contemplative practices. He is always up for conversations about how to connect with God more intentionally through prayer, meditation, and other spiritual practices.
