Join Pastor David in reading the letter to the Hebrews throughout the next several weeks. We’ll read one chapter every Monday and Tuesday. During October and November 2021, our Sunday morning sermons will come from Hebrews, as well.

Scripture and Prayer on Thursday, September 30, 2021

Pastor David reads Matthew 7:24-29 and offers a prayer from Ludovicus Vives:

O Lord, the Author and Persuader of peace, love, and goodwill, soften our hard and steely hearts, warm our frozen and icy hearts, that we may wish well to one another, and may be the true disciples of Jesus Christ. And give us grace even now to begin to show that heavenly life, where there is no hatred, but peace and love everywhere, towards one another.

Scripture and Prayer on Wednesday, September 29, 2021

Pastor David reads Matthew 7:13-23 and offers a prayer from Thomas Aquinas:

Grant me, I ask you, almighty and merciful God, fervently to desire, wisely to search out, truly to acknowledge, and perfectly to fulfill, all that is well-pleasing to you. Order my worldly condition to the honor and glory of your name; and of all that you require me to do, grant me the knowledge, the desire, and the ability, that I may so fulfill it as I ought, and as is expedient for the welfare of my soul.

Scripture and Prayer on Tuesday, September 28, 2021

Pastor David reads Matthew 7:1-12 and offers a prayer from Edward Pusey:

O God, fountain of love, pour your love into our souls, that we may love those whom you love with the love you give us, and think and speak about them tenderly, meekly, lovingly; and so loving our brothers and sisters for your sake, we may grow in your love, and live in love and living in love may live in you; for Jesus Christ’s sake.

Scripture and Prayer on Monday, September 27, 2021

Pastor David reads 2 Kings 17:24-41 and offers a prayer from William Kethe:

All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;
Him serve with mirth, his praise forth tell;
Come ye before him, and rejoice.

The Lord, ye know, is God indeed;
Without our aid he did us make;
We are his folk, he doth us feed,
And for his sheep he doth us take.

Oh enter then his gates with praise,
Approach with joy his courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless his name always,
For it is seemly so to do.

For why, the Lord our God is good;
His mercy is forever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.
